  59. 1.4    SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
  60.  
  61.     A.    Elastomeric coating specified herein is a tough, flexible, heavy-duty waterproof material with over 500 percent elongation properties, allowing moisture vapor transmission.

  63.     B.    Primer products are specifically designed for compatibility with elastomeric coating.

  65. 1.5    SUBMITTALS
  66.  
  67.     A.    Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

  74. 1.6    QUALITY ASSURANCE
  75.  
  76.     A.    Installer Qualifications:  Minimum five years experience regularly engaged and specializing in the application of specialty surface treatments to exterior wall substrates.
  77.  
  78.     B.    Pre-Installation Meetings:
  79.         1.    Before Application:  Installer and Manufacturer's Representative shall inspect surfaces to be treated, noting in writing to the Architect, deficiencies or flaws in the substrate construction which would affect the performance or appearance of the elastomeric coating.
  80.         2.    Beginning of Application:  Manufacturer's Representative shall assure utilization of proper equipment, verify material quantities, and supervise material application techniques upon a substantial wall section.  This wall section shall act as a comparative standard for the project.

  82.     C.    Installer shall not proceed with material application until all deficiencies noted in pre-application inspection report have been corrected.

  84.     D.    Installer shall notify manufacturer no less than 72 hours before starting application.

  86. 1.7    DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  87.  
  88.     A.    Deliver materials in original sealed containers, clearly marked with manufacturer's name, type of material, and batch number.
  89.  
  90.     B.    Inspect the materials upon delivery to assure that specified products have been received.
  91.  
  92.     C.    Store materials where temperatures are not less than 40 degrees F (4.5 degrees C).
  93.  
  94.     D.    Use all means necessary to protect material before, during, and after installation, and to protect work of other trades.

  96. 1.8    ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  97.  
  98.     A.    All materials shall comply with current Federal and State environmental requirements.

  100. 1.9    WARRANTY
  101.  
  102.     A.    Manufacturer's Material Warranty:  Manufacturer's warranty against water intrusion:

  104.         1.    Warranty Period:  Five years from date of Substantial Completion.
  105.         2.    Warranty Period:  Ten years from date of Substantial Completion.

  107.     B.    Installer Warranty:  Warrant workmanship for a period of two years from the date of Substantial Completion.

  110. PART 2    PRODUCTS

  112. 2.1    MANUFACTURERS

  118. 2.2    MATERIALS
  119.  
  120.     A.    Primer:  Rainguard Products Company "Tec-Seal" or "Tec-Seal II" primer, as recommended by manufacturer for specific substrate.
  121.  
  122.     B.    Elastomeric Coating:  Rainguard Products Company "Tec-Top" elastomeric coating, meeting or exceeding FS TT-P-19, TT-P-55, and TT-C-555 by performance.

  125. PART 3    EXECUTION
  126.  
  127. 3.1    EXAMINATION
  128.  
  129.     A.    Verify that surfaces to be coated are in proper condition.  
  130.         1.    New substrates: Cured 30 days before application.
  131.         2.    Cured substrates:  Allowed to dry three to seven days in warm, clear weather following rainfall before application.
  132.         3.    Substrate moisture content:  No higher than 15 percent as registered on an electronic moisture meter.
  133.  
  134.     B.    Where freezing conditions have existed before application, allow adequate time for building to thaw.
  135.  
  136. 3.2    PREPARATION
  137.  
  138.     A.    Thoroughly clean substrates of foreign substances, such as dirt, efflorescence, mortar spills, dust, chalk, laitance, form oils, and loose paint.
  139.  
  140.     B.    Protect work of other trades against damage by coating, whether to be coated or not.
  141.  
  142. 3.3    APPLICATION
  143.  
  144.     A.    Apply materials in strict accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and when substrate surface temperature is between 45 and 90 degrees F (7 and 32 degrees C).
  145.  
  146.     B.    Apply primer; allow to cure 24 hours before application of elastomeric coating.
  147.  
  148.     C.    Brush, roll, or spray elastomeric coating using conventional mastic equipment or large capacity airless spray equipment.
  149.  
  150.     D.    Apply number of coats of elastomeric coating as recommended by manufacturer for specific substrate.
  151.  
  152.     E.    Backroll elastomeric coating as necessary to provide a pinhole free application of uniform finish, color, and appearance.

  154. 3.4    FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
  155.  
  156.     A.    Manufacturer's Representative shall inspect all coated surfaces after work is complete to verify proper application.

  158. 3.5    ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
  159.  
  160.     A.    If damage occurs, immediately make all repairs and replacements necessary at no additional cost to Owner.
  161.  
  162.     B.    During process of work, remove discarded coating materials, rubbish, cans, and rags at end of each workday.
  163.  
  164.     C.    Correct any damage by cleaning, repairing or replacing, and recoating, as acceptable to Architect.
